Mice, a Dog and an Earthquake

Post by Danniielle »

Mice, a Dog and an Earthquake.

I just awoke from another very vivid dream about the damage caused to my home by a recent earthquake.

The dream started when I went into the garage to see who was making a noise there. It was my neighbour, Derrick and one of his female friends. She was quite young. Derrick had been working out quite a bit after I had given him a personal training program and he had made significant progress. He a towel wrapped around himself and wanted to come into my place for a shower.
They both came inside into my kitchen and as I opened the fridge and reached for an open container of rice milk, I asked them what today's date was so I could check the use by date. The young girl mentioned that she thought it was the 15th of July but I remembered that it was actually the 1st of August. The rice milk was OK and I took a mouthful.

This was an older home I was living in. Along with my neighbour and his friend, I became aware of a number of other visitors with me. My sister was there, as was my mum and some American people from a church of some sort.
The church people were attempting to describe a series of events that had happened to them that they claimed were quite unjust when I became aware of something of immediate concern.

I heard the noise of a dog inside my home but none of us had dogs. The sound was coming from one of the front rooms so I went to investigate.

What I saw next startled me. There was indeed a small dog in the front room which had clearly entered via a large hole in the floor just under one of the front windows. Between the hole and the window, in the wall, was a large crack wide enough to fit my hand through! I got hold of the dog and pushed it back outside through the hole and realised it had dug this hole. I noticed that the crack extended along the ground from under the house right through the front yard and across the street and was obviously the result of a recent earthquake I'd felt that nobody seemed to have taken any notice of.

Mice had entered the home through the crack in the wall in search of food and the dog had dug the hole while attempting unsuccessfully to squeeze through the crack after smelling the mice.

After removing the dog, I was focussed on blocking up the hole and the crack but the others with me were disorganised, uninterested and generally getting in my way. The American people found some of my foam door sealing tape and began using that to plug up the crack but I stopped them because that tape was expensive and it would've taken all of it and not been very effective.

At this point, I started explaining my theory of how everything had unfolded since the earthquake but again, they were all preoccupied with small distractions and were completely uninterested in my explanations.

I had gone into the front yard to continue my efforts to plug things up and saw just how significant this earthquake had been. The crack in the ground was significantly larger than I had thought when first investigating from inside, as was the damage to the house. What's more, there was a second, smaller crack under another front window in the same room.

My mum was walking across the front yard to see what all the fuss was about and I started explaining everything to her but she too was unable to see the magnitude of what this earthquake had done. She even stood on a section of unstable ground under the largest crack in the wall and was unaware of the danger despite the earth moving precariously under her feet! I was very alarmed at her apparent indifference to the situation and particularly at her indifference to my attempts to repair the damage and explain everything to her.

The house was in danger of collapse, the earth was split wide open and it seemed to me that I was the only one who could see it!
